Many local service providers are listed in searchable on-line databases. Based at Community House in Harrogate, the Council for Voluntary Service (CVS) have a database of local voluntary sector service providers. The Voluntary Community Sevice (VCS) also has a directory of voluntary and community organisations supporting individuals and running activities throughout York and North Yorkshire. If you know the name of the service provider you can use these directories to find contact details, otherwise you can search by type of service needed using key words. What is the Gate project? The Gate is a community project which aims to support older people living in their own homes. Some older people can feel isolated and may have needs that are not being met and so struggle to maintain their independence. There is a range of service providers who can help but many people are unaware of these - or they may know of some of them but are unclear as to the services they offer. Our aim is to help older people and their families to access the services they need. |
